Yes!
The majority of our classes will allow students to do that. When enrolling in courses, Pre-College Scholars will be selecting their preferred grading option. The grading option may be changed later as long as that is done before the deadline. Check with the Summer Sessions deadline webpage or program calendar for more information. Please refer to your Student Handbook for more information, or email precollege@berkeley.edu
Available Grading Options
- Letter Grade(A, B, C, D, F)
- Pass/No Pass (P/NP)
Letter Grade
This is the standard grading option. Letter-graded courses are generally acceptable for transfer credits at other universities.
Pass/No Pass
This is another grading option you can choose as long as it is available for the course. C- or better is considered passing. If a student intends on transferring courses under this grading option, they should consult with the institutions they plan to transfer those units to as there are a growing number of schools that do not accept P/NP transferred coursework.
