The Pre-College Scholars Summer Commuter Track students must adhere to the student conduct policies to protect the health, safety, and academic integrity of program participants and UC Berkeley community members. Failure to abide by the UC Berkeley Pre-College Scholars Summer Commuter Track policies and the terms of The Pre-College Scholars Summer Commuter Student Agreement may put the health, safety and academic performance of program participants at risk and expose them to danger.
Responsibilities: It is the responsibility of every student participating in the Pre-College Scholars Summer Commuter Track to follow all the rules and regulations in place as outlined in, but not limited to the Berkeley Campus Code of Student Conduct, the UC Berkeley principles of community, the Campus Online Activities Policy, the Pre-College Scholars Summer Commuter Student Agreement, and any additional policies specified by individual faculty and/or instructional staff.
The following violations may lead to immediate dismissal from the Pre-College Scholars Commuter Program:
- Possession or consumption of cigarettes, vapes, Juuls, alcohol, illegal or recreational drugs (including marijuana) will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Harassment, assault, bullying, or sexual misconduct including sexual contact with others will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Any type of disrespectful, exclusionary, discriminatory, threatening, aggressive, or abusive behavior is strictly prohibited. Discrimination against a person’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- The deliberate sharing of private images, communications, learning materials or other depictions of other students, staff, or instructors for the purpose of inviting external commentary, ridicule, or embarrassment, is prohibited and will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Tampering of fire safety equipment, removal of furniture from common areas, hanging or throwing things out the windows, damaging walls, furniture, or vending machines will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Fighting, stealing, vandalism or loud noises will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Possession or use of weapons will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- Violation of the “Participants Staying with Relatives in the Bay Area” policy will result in serious disciplinary actions and/or dismissal from the program.
- I further understand that these policies and regulations are for my safety and that of other program participants, and cannot realistically cover all situations. The Assistant Dean of UC Berkeley Summer Sessions, along with the Pre-College Scholars Program team will determine if any rules or policies have been violated and what disciplinary action, if any, should be taken.
Additionally, all students must familiarize themselves with the program's Standards of Conduct and Online Space and Technology Policies.
